Emmy Award winning composer Denise Gentilini performed her original music on Sunday, October 18, 2009 in
Gates Hall in The Newman Center for the Performing Arts at The University of Denver. The focus of this incredible concert
was to raise genocide awareness. The event was emceed by Denver’s own Emmy Award winning journalist Tamara Banks.

Denise was joined by the Colorado Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Vicki Burrichter, performing the debut of Denise’s Emmy Award winning music from her documentary The Handjian Story: A Road Less Traveled. Denise also performed nine of her original songs from her NEW CD "We Are Voices" featuring Denver’s top star vocalists, Beth Avedis, Sheryl Renee and Hazel Miller backed by an additional six piece band and a powerful eleven voice choir. Genocide awareness and social justice advocates spoke briefly in a way that enlightened and touched people’s hearts.

The event’s goal was to focus on the positive message of survival and to inspire people to recognize the signs of genocide, to become active in the prevention of genocide, to not simply tolerate those who are different, but to live a life that is inclusive of all people. This message was conveyed through the uplifting and moving music with lyrics that promote love, personal empowerment and that encourage us all to take responsibility in making a positive difference in our world.
